About Dave Simm | Tucson Golf Instructor

I began playing golf when I was 14. At the time, I was passionate about football, basketball, baseball and tennis. The initial attraction to golf was that I didn’t need to round up any other kids, and I could practice for hours without getting tired. I used to sneak on the golf course at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona with 6 balls and a 3-iron. When they got tired of chasing me off the golf course, they told me I could practice at the driving range if I picked up the practice balls around the edges.
That’s when I discovered, like most golfers, that I loved the feeling of connecting solidly with a golf ball. Even if that connection didn’t happen very often in the beginning, I was willing to keep trying until I felt it again. I think that’s how many of us got hooked on this great game of golf.
Since then, I have played golf competitively on my high school and college golf teams, and at the professional level within my PGA Section. Through my playing experience, and through associations with many great golf teachers, I have developed a simple and intuitive approach to learning how to play the game, and how to communicate with other golfers. I believe that there are many ways to swing a golf club, some simple and some more complicated. And, while the golf swing is an important part of the game, it is not the only path to lower scores and greater enjoyment.
My teaching approach encompasses physical, technical, mental and emotional training in an integrated golf program designed for improvement. Learning to play golf should be fun, and should happen at a pace appropriate for each individual. Improvement happens naturally when golfers enjoy practice.
